Building the digital platform behind the Middle East's first entrepreneurial mega hub.

Wamda set out to become the entrepreneurial hub of the Middle East, bringing business content, community, and learning together in one place. Spring led the engagement team across both companies, working hand in hand with our sister company SYNTAX, who served as main contractor for branding, content development, and design. The digital strategy was co developed by both teams, and Spring built the digital platform and the sub digital experiences that brought the vision to life.
The brief called for something the region had not seen before: a single platform that worked as a business magazine, a social network, and an online university at once. That meant moving well beyond a standard website. We needed a flexible foundation that could handle rich, mixed media, support community and authoring features, pull in content from many external sources, and still hold up under the ambition and scale of a regional launch.
Leading the joint engagement team and shaping the digital strategy across both companies, we translated an unconventional product vision into a working platform. Rather than force the experience into an off-the-shelf system, we built a custom solution that gave us full control over how content was structured, displayed, authored, and shared, and we engineered the platform to bring many external content sources into one coherent stream.
We developed the Wamda platform on the CodeIgniter PHP framework, building a custom content management and publishing system so the magazine, the social network, and the learning resources could run as one connected experience. The build included a content aggregation layer drawing from external sources, community and member features for authoring and connecting, and the sub digital experiences that extended the platform around its launch. After going live, we continued to refine the product over successive iterations, tuning the experience in response to how people actually used it.
Wamda launched as one of the most ambitious digital products of its time in the region, a platform that gave entrepreneurs a place to find relevant content, connect with one another, and feel part of something larger. For Spring, it proved our ability to take a bold, unconventional product vision and engineer it into a living digital platform at regional scale.
